Seesaw Archiving

Below is a link for the instructions on how to save your child’s Seesaw work if you would like to do so. These accounts will be archived in January. You should still be able to access these each year until your child completes their education at St. Michael’s. You might like to begin saving work now rather than having this job become bigger as each year goes by. For those families leaving our community, you will need to save your child’s work if you would like to do so as you will not be able to access their journals after January.

How to Archive Student Work on Seesaw

You can also right click on clips and work samples when viewing and save directly to your PC if you wish to do so.

Thank you.

Thank You and Happy Christmas

We would like to finish this year by thanking you for the support and commitment you have shown to your child’s learning in 2021. We really appreciate the time you have given to meet with us, the ways you have supported children with reading and other homework tasks and with your flexibility in managing learning during these continuing COVID times. It has been another busy year and we pray that your family has an opportunity to be still and to reset over the school holidays. We wish you every blessing for the Christmas season and thank you for your generous gifts and good wishes. May you rejoice in the birth of our Saviour Jesus and remember always that He goes with us and before us, and that His love for us will never end.

Christmas Lunch and Colour Run – Tuesday, 7th December 2021

This year, we plan to hold our School Christmas Lunch a little differently than we did pre-COVID.  This year we will be celebrating in Learning Community groups to enjoy our chicken, chips, salad, drink and ice-cream lunch. In order to distance ourselves, we will be utilising large indoor and outdoor areas of the school to dine or picnic.

This lunch is provided by the school and will be served in individual portions to children.  If your child has dietary restrictions which we are not aware of, please communicate this with your child’s teacher.

Following lunch, our students will get to enjoy our annual water fun afternoon, together with the colour run.

Children can come to school in Christmas themed clothing, as classes will be involved in many Christmas activities throughout the day.

After lunch (2pm) students will have the chance to be involved in a wide variety of water and dry games.  Just before 3pm we will begin the colour run, which will follow a course through the school ground.

The colour run powder works best on white clothes and so we invite children to bring a white t-shirt to school to use during the colour run.  We will give students time to change into their white shirts before the water activities.  The colour run powder is non-toxic and can be removed with laundering.

As children end up very messy, we suggest that, if you are collecting your child from school on that Tuesday, you pack a large garbage bag for your child to wear over their clothes in the car.  Towels for the car seat are also a good idea.  Alternatively, you are welcome to use the Bukatila changerooms for your child to change before heading home.

If your child is travelling by bus, they may wish to pack clean clothes to change into after the colour run.

Participation in the colour run is optional.  Children who do not want to be involved will be able to watch from a central position.

Parents are welcome to attend this event from 2pm, being mindful of COVID safe practices and ensuring that you sign in.  We will have a sign in sheet available at the oval.  Visitors are reminded that masks should be worn if physical distancing is not possible.

If you have questions about the day, please talk to your child’s teacher or contact the front office.

Jump Rope for Heart

Dear Parents/Carers,

Over the next 3-4 weeks the BLC and JLC classes will be participating in Jump Rope for Heart- a fantastic fundraising and physical activity program by the Heart Foundation. Your child will learn new skills, increase their physical activity, and learn about heart health.

By registering and signing up online at jumprope.org.au/parents, you and your child can:
– Easily raise funds online
– Track skipping skills progress and earn virtual badges along the way
– Post updates to your page so family and friends can follow their progress
– Access additional skipping resources
Your child should have a ‘fundraising guide’ flyer to take home, which includes further information on the program.

You can also visit the school’s Jump Rope For Heart page for any further information

South Aussie with Cosi – Thursday 4th November

This coming Thursday 4/11 , we will be visited by the TV production ‘South Aussie with Cosi’.  Cosi and his crew will be filming at St Michael’s as part of his school specials.  Throughout the morning Cosi will be interacting with students across the school both in class and outside.

The segment will air on television in December and we will advise families of this date when we know it.

While we already know that a small number of our children do not have permission to be photographed, we ask that you contact your child’s teacher if you have previously provided photography permission, but do not want your child involved in this experience.

Thank you,

Terri Taylor
