Hi everyone, you’ll need to sit down with a cuppa and your diary for this one.
Concert:
We are working hard on the final preparations for our concert performances and can’t wait to share these with you. The performance on Thursday begins at 7 p.m. We ask that you drop your child at the door of Cafe 3:16 before entering the Worship Centre yourselves at the old church end. If you are not staying for this performance please arrive back at the cafe between 7:45 and 8 p.m. to collect your child at the cafe end. Please remember that you will need to sign your child out on their class list which will be on a table in the parquetry area. Thank you.
Unit of Inquiry:
This week we are beginning an exciting new unit of learning about music. Our central idea is “Music elements can be used to convey messages and influence emotions”. We are inquiring into how musical elements are used, how a message, emotions and the music connect and how we can use technology to create compositions. Do you have expertise in an area of music that you would be willing to share with us as a community? Perhaps you play an instrument or teach others how to play one. We’d love to have you share your knowledge and passion with us so please chat to us if you would be willing to talk to our students.
Book Fair: Week 3
This is an opportunity for students to purchase books in a Scholastic sale. We will visit the Fair at the beginning of next week to view the titles available for purchase. Students will complete a wish list on this visit but they are under no obligation to purchase these books. Book Week Dress-Up Day:
On Monday, 20th August, we are holding our annual Book Week Dress-Up Day. Your child is invited to dress up in response to the theme “Find Your Treasure”. This reminds us that reading really does open up a world of treasures for us all. Your child may also choose to come as a story-book character. Please chat to us if you have any questions or concerns.
Chapel:
JLCS will be leading our Chapel worship on Friday next week, 10th August. You are welcome as always to join us in worshiping our great God.
