Happy Fathers’ Day

New Unit of Inquiry

This week we started our new unit of inquiry. We will be inquiring into the history of our local community and how things have changed, through the theme of Where we are in place and time. Our central idea is “Local communities change over time”.  To help children understand this we would like to do an excursion down the main street of Hahndorf next week.

We will be looking for parent volunteers to take small groups along Hahndorf Main Street to identify historical building and facts.

These are the following times we are looking for helpers:

Mrs Kruger- Thursday 6th September at 9am

Mr Eckermann – Thursday 6th September

Mrs Schultz – Friday 7th September (after chapel)

Please email or contact your class teacher if you have a current police check and mandatory reporting certificate and are interested in helping out.

Lobethal Excursion

On the 10th of September we will be having an excursion to Lobethal Church Museum and consent forms will be sent out later next week.

Swimming

Classes will send out their own personalised swimming information in the next week or two.

Show

We are not having a school Show Day this year. However, it would be very helpful for us if you could let us know via email if you are planning to take your child to the Show on a school day.

Wishing all of the dads a really, truly, incredibly happy and relaxing Fathers’ Day.  You all deserve it!

Term 3, Week 5

Father’s Day Breakfast-  Friday 31st August

All of our dads are invited to our Father’s Day Pancake Breakfast on Friday 31st August starting at 8am.  There will be a lucky door prize for one of our special dads who attend on the day.

After breakfast, our dads are invited to visit our classrooms and then join us for our Father’s Day Worship from 9am.

We hope to see you there.

Grandfriend’s Day – Save the Date

We know that many of our Grandparents and Special Friends travel long distances to join us for Grandfriend’s Day and so, please let them know to save Friday 9th November on their calendars.

Book Week – Week 5

Book Week:

Don’t forget it is Book Week Parade Monday morning. Children are allowed to come in any costume that relates to a book or book character. You may like to re-use or take ideas from concert costumes. Straight after the parade parents are invited to share a book with their child back in the classrooms.

Swimming Forms

If we could please have all swimming forms returned to the front office as soon as possible, that would be great. If you have lost your form please email the classroom teacher or the front office.

Book Swap

Don’t forget that book swap is happening on Friday (24th August). All next week, children can bring their good quality books to Mrs Kruger’s class and swap them for tokens ready for Friday.

LOTS of important information to note!

Hi everyone, you’ll need to sit down with a cuppa and your diary for this one.

Concert:

We are working hard on the final preparations for our concert performances and can’t wait to share these with you. The performance on Thursday begins at 7 p.m. We ask that you drop your child at the door of Cafe 3:16 before entering the Worship Centre yourselves at the old church end. If you are not staying for this performance please arrive back at the cafe between 7:45 and 8 p.m. to collect your child at the cafe end. Please remember that you will need to sign your child out on their class list which will be on a table in the parquetry area. Thank you.

Unit of Inquiry:

This week we are beginning an exciting new unit of learning about music. Our central idea is “Music elements can be used to convey messages and influence emotions”. We are inquiring into how musical elements are used, how a message, emotions and the music connect and how we can use technology to create compositions. Do you have expertise in an area of music that you would be willing to share with us as a community? Perhaps you play an instrument or teach others how to play one. We’d love to have you share your knowledge and passion with us so please chat to us if you would be willing to talk to our students.

This is an opportunity for students to purchase books in a Scholastic sale. We will visit the Fair at the beginning of next week to view the titles available for purchase.
